I would like to create a browser that plays youtube video's in full screen.
Every youtube video has a embedd code. Is that the code the enduser must copy into the text input or is there a script to play a video that way.

Kind regards,

Ad

I found a solution to display a youtube video on a browser object that starts automaticly.
The answer was given by Youtube! There is a very simple way to make it.
The only thing you have to do is: Copy the URL from the Youtube site into your browser like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQVXU09pkqU

To make the video autostart and full screen, put an underscore + the word popup between the word watch and the ? like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=nQVXU09pkqU

Now i have a question for a script guru...
I would give the enduser the option to click on a button that automatic puts the _popup between the word watch and the ?

Like to here from one of you.

Now that is possible :-)

myURL = "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQVXU09pkqU"
myLength = myURL.length
mySubA = myURL.substring(0,23)
mySubB = myURL.substring(29,myLength)

myURL = mySubA + "watch_popup?" + mySubB

Debug.trace(myURL)

Mack --

This is "funny" since I'm not an OPUS Script expert like you are. In reading your code, I THINK I see a very minor error:

myURL = "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQVXU09pkqU"
myLength = myURL.length
mySubA = myURL.substring(0,23)
mySubB = myURL.substring(29,myLength)

myURL = mySubA + "_popup?" + mySubB

The last line should NOT have "watch" since you have only 6 characters (23-29) between the beginning and the end. Am I right? (this will be SO great if I've spotted something... LOL).

Morning Fred,

Didn't realise that my coding was under such careful observation :-)

My syntax basically splits the server address from the search bit and thus subA doesn't extract the original 'watch'.

If you concatenate with your string, it would be necessary to adjust the parameters of subA substring to (0,28 ).

None of this will be necessary when Opus Script includes the replace method.

Mack

Monday morning and still pre-coffee.

P.S I never got any plausible replies to that question you ask me. It seems that specialist software would be required to handle the push / pull of data even if Opus was used for the interface. I keep meaning to look at the idea further, but keep getting side tracked.

As ususal, you are so right!!!! In counting the characters from the "http..." you are correct that 23 characters takes you to the "/" so the word "watch" was not included, therefore it's required. (If you start with "0", wouldn't it be "0,22" instead of "0,23" for "mySubA"? Now you know why I use Chris Jones to do any Scripting for me)

OK, I'll stick to the "non" Scripting questions. :D

Cheers Fred,

But before my head gets too big, I've just realised that I don't even know what day it is :-)
