This may seem like a basic question but can anyone tell me, When I have made an application in Opus Pro and I have linked it to a Microsoft database, does the end user need a full version of Access to run the program.

I have published the publication and have 3 files:

Application
Databasename.accdb
Databasename.laccdb

but when I try and run it on my Laptop without Microsoft Access installed I see the front end but no data.

Any ideas please?

Hi,

I don't think the user would need Access, but the .mdb (or newer .accdb) file needs to be distributed with the pub (path to it scripted so it can be found, for example, SYSTEM_PUBLICATION_DIR). However, it's been a little too long since I've tried to set up or deploy a DB. But, when I did, these excellent tutorials (parts 1-5) were very helpful.

HTH :)

What do you mean by 'see the front end'?

Have you tried the sample publications that DW provides with Opus? There is one that demonstrates Access DB. Try publishing that and test it over on the laptop.

BTW, please create a signature under your Forum Profile so that we can see what version of Opus you are running, plus other System info.

Similar to what Stephen suggested, make sure your DB Files get included in the published pub and have a predictable directory location. This can be done thru "Addition Resources" TAB under Pub Properties set-up, or I think you can 'Add' or 'Include' files as a optional step in the publishing process.

A last note. I think I have steared clear of Access DB because (I thought that) it required having an ODBC Connection configured on each client machine. I am a little 'fuzzy' on my memory here.

Search thru the forum too. Lots of prior posts regarding MS Access.

Thanks for your post

Could you please tell me if it's possible to have more than one record on a list page?
E.G.: Music Collection Page -> Album Covers & Title.
Then, as the user clicks on the Image File (Album Art) he's redirected to detailed page.

Plus, the list page displays several (20-25) records -> 20-25 CD Covers...

Elrad,

'Yes', what you want is possible in Opus.

Welcome to the forum. However it's bad form to 'hijack' a posting and go off on a tangent. Please post as new thread.
