Opus: Opus Pro Latest version 9.02 Build 16458

Updated 15 March 2010 - Includes Opus Version 7 and also corrects confusing object names used in the first post.
Other lessons will be progressively updated.

First of all, I would like to give very public thanks and to congratulate EOMC40 for taking the initiative, time and effort for his "Scripting for beginners" post. It is terrific to have someone with his experience donating his knowledge and time in this way.

I just downloaded his document and will study his lesson as soon as this post is finished.

Last weekend, my dear programmer son solved an array script problem that I was looking at for one of our Scottish members named Jim - if my memory is correct. He took 10 minutes to solve the problem and he doesn't even know how to use Opus or OpusScript! I was absolutely stunned by how quickly and easily his script solved an Opus problem.

So now I want to learn how to use scripts in Opus publications because there is an obvious advantage knowing how and when to use scripts.

Given that I have zero knowledge about scripts (Yep - absolutely ZERO), I decided to start somewhere (whether this is the right starting point or not is very debatable) and to write about what I am doing in order to help others as teachers tend to do.

Having said that, I do not want what I'm posting here to compete with or diminish in any way the valuable lessons that EOMC40 is doing for us. Since I wrote this lesson before becoming aware of EOMC40's first lesson, I decided to post my lesson one musings anyway so as to compliment EOMC40's scripting for beginners.

Feedback would be appreciated

Cheers

Graham
