Sorry, but this is not a good idea.

TEMP & TMP are environmental variables and can easily be set to a different location. This is a common practice that allows you to keep your system drive clean and speeds up Windows slightly.

This would cause the script to return the wrong location for the AppData.

As for whether DW would implement this as system variable, I don't know, you'd have to ask DW themselves - although they have been very good at adding practical extras, like this to Opus and although I don't program in C, it doesn't strike me as the most difficult thing to do - I could be wrong :-)

If it is a vital necessity for your program, I'd email DW and discuss it with them. If they cannot help, then I'd have thought it was possible using a DLL.

Winfried / All,

I think you'll get the best advice here from Mack, Paul, and a handful of others who have worked through these install issues.

Still, you may find some of the more general Windows links/info useful reading (I tend to try to understand the broader picture... so I get a better feel where a suggested solution fits.)

http://www.advancedinstaller.com/forums ... =2&t=10313
and the useful link from that post http://www.advancedinstaller.com/user-g ... paths.html
Advanced Installer User Guide (Table)
Being familiar with WindowsXP, I can see here in the last Column... how things have 'mapped' over in WinVista, etc. (I don't use AdvancedInstaller, I was just looking for such a site that would have some recommendations).

Thanks Paul, Lar and Mack.

Another question please.

In the publication properties, one can choose where a database will be published. Built-in options are:
- Publication Directory
- Windows Directory
- System Directory
- "My Documents" Directory
- CD-ROM drive

Do you know if it is possible to install to another place? ...Virtualstore\Programdata for instance?

The reason why I am asking is that I would like to avoid any shadow-copy of the database when I update the database after downloading a .txt patch file with ftp.exe.
