I have created a simple publication using hotspots and rollovers for a stand alone CD.
The menus lead to sub menus then PDF files.
When I collate the files ...the PDFs are not included.
I am using "actions" to launch the PDFs.
I know the problem is in the "The file will be found at this location" box.
The publication works perfectly on the PC that it was created on....but not on any other PC.
I assume thats because the location of the file needs to be specified differently.
The PDFs are located at D:\PDFs\teaching materials\sample.pdf. ( D is the second hard disk)
What should the pathname be to make the publication work from CD?

Try reading the topic below, it's the same problem except using executables instead of PDFs.

Thanks for the reply....much appreciated.
I did spend quite a while looking through the forum before posting my question.

My problem is solved now.
Just to help anyone else who stumbles across this topic...the answer is....

Using the "File Can Be Found at this Location" box on the Launch File Action...
From the drop down to the right select the variable "SYSTEM_PUBLICATION_DIR"
This tells the publication to look in whichever directory it resides.
Follow with a "\" then the name of the file.
See example below.

<SYSTEM_PUBLICATION_DIR>\filename.pdf

Hey Presto!!!!
It finds the file and works.

I was wondering if there is a reason why all files referenced in the publication,
can't be collated into the resource folder?
That would make life much easier.
Since I have 86 PDFs to reference....my production time could have been grately reduced.

Thanks again for your speedy assitance.
