Hi all,

I have a bit of a problem concerning video control and Opus 6.0

I remember back when I was using either version 4.0 or 4.5 there was a sample video you could play with. - out of this, I managed to create a nice little player that not only played but also gave me fast forward and reverse and "froze" at my command.

I used this program a lot with earlier projects and could even use a selection of pre-determined butttons to go directly to and stop at, a particular location ( which for the project was great! )

Problem is, ever since Ive purchased my current Verrsion of Opus Pro 6.0 - I cant seem to create the same player - sure I can make something play and stop but FF / REV ? no chance. Ive even tried re-loading my earlier version and it wont work.

I need to be able to press the left mouse button down whilst being over the FF or REV button and have it run at highspeed till I let go - then have the video stop at that frame.

I could do it with the earlier version of Opus.....but Im at a loss as to how to achieve this using Version 6.0.

Any ideas ? - many thanks in advance..

Rick.

Hi Rick,

Interaktiv sell a ready made solution for this that will play many audio video formats if the correct codec is installed. However, if you just want to see an example in action, this is our exemplar built using Opus 6.

Hi Rick
I would highly recomend Macks Video player, I got it last year and have used it on a number of pojects. It much better than the Example that came with Opus 5. The script includes notes that explain what each bit of the code controls.

Well worth the few pounds it costs.

G-day,

I actually went to the link and downloaded the sample player, and your right!~ Mack really knows what hes doing.

2 questions

1: how do I get a copy Mack?

2: will this be in .imp format for me to customize ( as I said in my original post ) I used to be able to create pre-determined parts within the video and have the user hit a button and go directly to that exact point and stop. - is this still possible with yours? ( obviously Ill still have to create the points and the buttons of course. ) lol!

Also, if I read this correctly, is this player the result of "code" or is this in the usual Opus format? ( commands in buttons ).

Again, fantastic demo mate! :D

Regards...

Rick.

Hi Rick

Just go the the link on Mack's comment above then on the shop link. The player is a opus file and is a mix of script and objects.

As I said before the script is very easy to understand as the notes talk you through each step of the code. If your writing a music or video player have a look at Mack's file browser as well as it saved me a lot of work.

Cheers

Mark

Morning Rick,

As Mark said, all our products can be ordered on-line using the Interaktiv shop and a PayPal account. Alternatively, we can invoice businesses and education directly. Use our contact or email system on the site.

To answer your questions, yes to everything. It's full source code (see our EULA for details of use), uses both a combination of actions and scripting and you can set a specific reference to jump to (we've done this recently for a client).

The on-line system should be working fine, but we're currently adding some new DLLs, for Text to Speech, Screen Saving and Sound Recording, so registration may be off line at different times of day (for your time zone).

Regards,

Mack,

P.S @Mark - glad the VCR and DLL are proving useful.

Hi,
The video player is just what I wanted. However one question, do the videos get embedded if we chose that option while publishing. And if so, does the player work well on embedded videos.

Hi Anand,

Yes, the VCR will still work if the video is embedded if the video will play embedded in a standard Opus publication. By default, MPG1* files will embed and play, but we've also used it with MPEG2 and SWF files.

Hi, here to add my support to Mack's video module - my client is delighted with the end result.

And Mack shows tremendous patience when faced with late-night stupid questions!
