Hi all, I've had a good search throught the forums but cannot seem to find the same question.

I have persuaded our school to buy Opus for both interactive publications and display applications. I use 6.4 at home, I have a reasonable number of projects that I hope to be able to re-use at the school, script snippets, buttons etc.

Will there be any problem shuttling projects between home and work in terms of compatibility? I realise paths may change etc, is 7.x backwards compatible I guess is what I'm asking.

I also appreciate that 7.x may have more advanced scripting capability, but I don't do anything complicated in scripting.

Both will be running on XP SP3.

Many thanks, Kurt.

Opus: Evolution
No! Absolute not backwardly comparable. The key reason is that Opus 7.0 introduces new security functionality for developers that allows code to be protected.

All our clients work was backed up and a duplicate documents folder was created and marked for Opus 6.0 projects.

That said, I've not had one issue opening v6 files in Opus and have actually republished a lot of older applications just to ensure that W7 works property.

There wasn't many changes to scripting, but as a school, making sure your projects work well under W7 and having working SCORM for your LMS is a really big plus for Opus 7.0.

Mack

Thanks Mack, I should have said forwards compatible as I would be bringing my projects in, rather than taking the school's projects home.

From the sounds of it 7 will be a good move for me.

Kind regards, Kurt
