I am putting together a presentation and in the bottom corner I want to display the about of minutes that the presentation has been running for but I cant work out how to do this. I have created a global variable (TimePast) and on the first page after the intro page in my presentation I have set this to a value of 0 I have also created a global variable called StartTime which I need to set to the time the first page was shown. When the subsquent pages are displayed I want it to show the value of myTime (which needs to be set to the current time - StartTime) in minutes. This way I can keep an eye how much time I am talking for without it being obvious to the people I am presenting to etc. Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Use the in-built variable PUBLICATION_TIME

And add a profile, people generally won't answer if you don't at least state the Opus version and Windows edition (link top right).

Mack thanks for the prompt reply, you are right, I should have put the version info. I am using V7.05 of Opus Pro and Vista.

Thanks that works really well, I always thought that the PUBLICATION_TIME variable was related to the amount of time you had worked on the publication rather than the time it was running for.

Nathan

Since this is an issue I need some help with and the original posters was answered, perhaps you won't mind if I expand the question a bit.

For the time lapse video side by side display I discussed in another thread, I also need a timer starting at 06:05:00 and counting seconds at an an excelerated rate that to show time lapse from when the videos actually began. Doesn't have to be Royal Observatory accurate, just within a few minutes as the day passes at about 30 seconds per hour.

Any suggestions on this?

Dave

The principle is simple and posted recently in part if I remember correctly.

Simply set up a tick to incremental a variable by one. Deduct this from the variable holding the total time. Use one of the time format functions (there posted on the board some where) to display in hh:mm:ss.

To achieve time lapse, just set the tick to a value faster than a second. IE 0.1 - this means that 1 second will be achieved every 0.1 seconds.

Thanks, Mack. Been off that one for a bit but I still need to do it.

Regards,
Dave
