Having a problem with some flex (flash) content not being displayed in IE9.
Have to resort to the compatibility view to get it to work.

Are DW aware of this problem??

Regards

Pete

Hi Pete,

I recently completed a Flex project, exporting it to SWF for an eLearning lesson. I just checked it, using IE9 and the latest embedded Flash player, and it runs OK.

HTH

Regards,

I have just checked a number of sites where I have created and placed swf files - both recently and up to 3 years ago.
Some show - but some have to be in compatibility view in order to display them???

So it is obviously an IE9 issue - but once the world moves to the new browser - I can see this becoming a bit of a hearache. Be great to nip it in the bud?

Anyone have any suggestions?

Regards

Pete

Hi Pete,

I think you may need to be more specific as it sounds like the website is not displaying rather than the SWF produced by Opus. This would seem to make more sense as I was under the impression that compatibility view was designed to prevent websites that did not meet web standards from loading.

Are you simply taking the output from Opus - the SWF and HTML file and loading these or are the SWFs being embedded elsewhere or into a customized HTML file?

Mack

Hi Mack

If you display the web page without compatibility view
The page loads perfectly minus the swf file - i.e It is invisible.

With compatibility view enabled - the page loads perfectly including the swf file

The swf file is simply placed on the web page as an object.

You can view an example of a swf file misbehaving/behaving http://mokaicottage.com/

Regards

Pete

Hi Pete,

I don't think it's the Opus / Flex. There does appear to be something wrong with the webpage. Even in FF, it's causing the browser to chew though memory as if it's in some kind of infinitive loop - to the point that my browser becomes unstable.

I managed to extract the SWF and embed into the standard DW HTML page and the it works fine.

on my laptop it works fine in FF and Opera and Chrome but doesn't appear at all in IE9.
On a separate point- your key jpeg is 330kb but when properly optimized for web its only 55kb. I could see it downloading a bit slowly on my internet connection... png is usually an alternatvie to gif I believe but not jpg. (i.e. it's for small graphics)
cheers
Mac

edit-
your page saved to my hard drive works fine in IE9, but I do have to 'allow active x and scripts'
