I need to do some detailed interactive animation, deliverable as an swf file. The client likes the science museum examples here: http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/onlinestuff/games.aspx

Does anyone have experience oF doing this kind of stuff in opus flex?

Are there any pitfalls?

It's so much easier to use than flash, but I don't want to find some un-thought-of restriction halfway through the project.

Thoughts welcome.

It really depends on what you want to do. For the simple stuff you shouldn't find any problems. There are some advanced examples on that link that could be done with opus, but it depends on your programming skills.
