Gotten frustrated trying to insert a hyperlink. I was working in Flex, and decided perhaps it didn't support them as it's been a while since I did a web pub. Switched to Pro, and still had nothing on a right click except a ghosted "delete hypertext" option.

Copied and pasted a link in and it showed correctly, but on publish it does nothing and I still have no edit option when it's highlighted and right clicked.

I am frustrated at something I'd not had any issues with ever, at least that I can recall.

I am using W7 and Opus 7.latest.

Dave

Hi Dave,

1. Create textbox
2. Enter text
3. Select bit that is to be URL
4. Right click on selection and choose "create hypertext"
5. Add the launch action to the trigger and add your link - might need "http"

I think it'll only run for a server not file://

Mack, that is precisely how I did it since about 1995 in Opus 7 Illiminatus. What I said was the option to create hypertext simply isn't there. Only a ghosted "delete Hypertext."

That's why I am so confused...

Last time I used this was creating a Halloween web site two years ago. It was working fine...

Very strange.

Dave

PS - Went back in and highlight one of the hyperlinks I'd pasted (which showed as hyperlinks, but didn't work) and the "delete hyperlink" was unghosted. I deleted it and it went away. Reselected the text and the "delete hyperlink" function is ghosted, but there is still no "create hypertext" function there.

Maybe has to do with Flex Type pub (initially) generated a Text object for static text. Hence no hypertext. If you simply changed the Publication Type (and did not Save or Save As), it probably would not change the attributes of existing Text object. However you might succeed by creating a new Opus Page and a new Text object (with Pub Saved as Full OpusPro).

Failing that, you can try creating a whole New Pub of Type 'Pro' and testing that. Post back what you find.

According to the Help Files, a Flex-type Pub can have certain aspects of hypertext feature for non-static text containers. So need Flex/dynamic text ??

Hi Dave,

If it's physically not on the menu when you follow the instructions above, then I think your Opus installation might be broken. Does it appear on the TEXT menu at the top?

Can you post an IMP, so we can try?

Thanks, Mack. Obviously a bug in the build. It hadn't occured to me to look on the Text tool at the top. Duh. However, I checked my install at home last night and found it not on the right click menu there either.

Oh, well...

Working now, though still not from a right click.

Glad the menu bar works. But that's most odd. I download the 7.06 release this morning and it's still there :-)

Must be the Texas heat.

Hmmm.... I am 7.51.

Hadn't been notified of a new build. I'll try it.

Meanwhile, look at my latest dumb problem. Perhaps the new build will fix that, too...:-).
