I don't know if anyone has ever had this but would appreciate some help.

I have an end user with a laptop running my on line resource. He has installed the plugin and all is well until a postwebdata action downloads his data in response to his login request.

At this point no data is received. I have checked all the usual security settings on Internet Options/ Security tab for Active X but still no change. I am beginning to think that something else is blocking the postwebdata call to our server. I do not believe it is a problem with the pub as I have hundreds of logins each week.

Any ideas please?

I have set the Active X settings to the following:

Allow Active X filtering - Disable
Allow previously unused Active X...... - Enable
Allow Scriptlets - Enable
Automatic Prompting for Active X Controls - Enable
Binary and script behaviors - Enable
Display video and animation...... - Enable
Download signed Active X controls - Enable
Download unsigned Active X controls - Enable
Initialize and script Active X...... not marked as safe - Enable
Only allow approved domains to use....without prompt - Enable
Run Active X controls and plugins - Enable
Script Active X controls marked safe for scripting* - Enable

I'm not sure of the operating system but it is a fairly new laptop. IE9

I'm not sure from your post whether the data isn't reaching the server or reaching the publication on return.

Also what software is the server running?

Hi Mack,

The user first logs into our main database portal using a username and passwood. They then launch the pub from a link within the portal. The server uses the session details to identify the users, I believe. The PC is downloading the opus pub OK at this time so the plugin is working and it starts to run OK. It then makes a postwebdata call to a php script on our server to receive additional data into the Opus publication at run time. However nothing is coming down in response as though it is being blocked. The database is Mysql.

I don't know if this is caused by other settings in IE or something else on the users PC, but it all works fine normally.

Thanks for the expanded process but I'm still not clear if both a send and receive of PHP data is taking place.

From what I understand, the login screen (a plexus application) appears correctly but...

Does this fail because of the PHP data or...

Does this work successfully and then the main portal appears with the links. The link download another application (again plexus) but it is these applications that fail the web data?

Hi Mac,

One field (call it data) in the postwebdata sends up a value of 1. The script then sends down a string of data fields that are loaded into the Opus publication at run time such as PHP session number(for appending to other urls the programme will move to later, forename andf surname etc.

The portal is a website integrating various other non-multimedia resources as well as the Opus pub. The database behind is built in PHP/MYSQL but not programmed by me.

When they click on the icon to launch the opus pub the url has the phpsession appended to it.

This has worked successfully for some years but in this situation on this piece of hardward something other than Active X settings seems to be blocking the data.

As I don't have the hardware to hand I can't test it, but the Opus programme starts OK and therefore the plugin would appear to be working.

I seem to have got confused on this one.

From a debug perspective, I simply thought that the POST is a two way process and was trying to confirm whether the correct data reached the PHP script. I'd then proceed checking the other points > does the correct data leave the publication > does the correct data leave the script > does the correct data return to the machine.

Something may well be blocking the communication, but this is such a wide problem that it needs narrowing down before any generic advise would resolve it.
