A blast from the past...you been digging yourself out of all the Canadian snow?

Unfortunately Al, I don't quite get what you want to happen.

You have a text file with a value stored. You want this value read back into the publication and displayed in a text input box?

What's the desktop got to do with it?

Hi Mack,

Yes it has been along time..... Been messing around with another software off and on ( Alpha5 ). Almost all of my 6 kids have moved out and i thought things were going to get easier but what i have found out is that now there out of the home i have to go farther to help them LOL . So it seems i have less free time  , anyways what i simply want to do is store a value and when a button is clicked it stores that value in Clipboard and allows the person to place it in any input area...

Simply like storing a hotkey value and when the person clicks the button the value is placed in the input area ( where ever it be ).

Just for historic purposes, i have been working a lot with online databases in the past months . The other software makes it so easy and now i have become more curious on learning OPUS's way of dealing with databases.....I wish there as a good tutor out there :D and they had a few simple explanations/tutorials......

I guess i get'N the bug to create again...

Ohhhhhhhhh and hell ya , stupid winter won't go away. It hasn't been the worse i have seen but it won't quit . I'm going to file as a Eskimo on my Income tax if it keeps going...... But life has been good and family is Very fine ( stupid winter ) hahahhaahah

As you can see i haven't changed much , my wife still calls me names i can
t say in public , so its all fine here

Al

Don't get me started on weird weather - I'm British and even I'm feed up talking about the rain :-!

Attached is an example of copy to / copy from the clipboard. It may be overly simplistic but together with some of the text selector script commands you can probably do quite a bit with copying and pasting the clipboard.

Hi Mack,

A few questions about that pub........ the Mydata.txt file is it a text file OR a Variable. How does it get created?

That doesn't exist.

data.txt is a text file in the publication directory. I created that manually and added some text.

mydata is a variable that the text from the file above is read into.

Opus copies 'information' to the clipboard by reading it from a variable - so whereever you 'information' is located - it will need to be stored in a variable before copying to the clipboard.

IE if you read it from a file or the registry or a text input box or a database - then read it into a variable.
