I want to create a new publication by copying a large number of pages from a single chapter in an existing publication and pasting them into a new (empty) one. All pages are based on a single master page. I've included the master page among those to be copied and it appears in the new publication as the first page and with the same name. However, on all of the pages pasted the Use Master Page box is now deselected and the master page objects do not, of course, appear.

Have I missed something or is the only way around this to go to every page (there are hundreds of them) and reselect the Use Master Page option?

A couple of points:

1. Try copying the master page first and then the other pages - it may simply be a case that the master page is not present (yet) when the paste of the other pages occurs.

2. You can multi-select pages and change properties en-mass including which master page they use - either hold control (non sequential) or shift (sequential) and click.

3. I'm not a great fan of copy / paste or duplicate large amounts of page / objects - you might also try just copying the IMP (project) and deleting the bits you don't need.

Thanks Mack

I had thought I could alter the properties of all the pages to use the master page, but after selecting all of the pages I was trying Edit/Page Properties which was only changing one page. However, I have discovered that right clicking on the list of selected pages and then selecting Properties from the pop up works OK and changes all of the pages. I thought both should work in the same way and I wonder why there is this difference?

But you are probably right about deleting the unwanted pages from a copy of the original publication being the best method.

Thanks
Richard

Yes, the Edit > Page Properties is singular. However, just above that in the menu is the Edit Properties option which will give you the plural selection.
