Hi All,

Wondering if the wisdom of the crowd can help me. I am writing an application that allows users to store images into a directory on their machine. What I need to do is check that the picture that they want to store meets certain minimum parameters; stuff like if less than 1280X768 or 150dpi then display a warning, if 75 dpi then reject, and if higher than 1280X768 or 150dpi then upload the file.

I am far from being fluent in OPUS Script, so if there is a non-script way, then I will be happier; however if OPUS Script is the way to go, then I can usually stumble my way around this.

Thanks in advance.

Rick

I'd be inclined to think you'd need more than scripting :-) There is more than one work around, but I'd use Opus' DLL functions to access the necessary data. This of course requires that you locate or build a suitable DLL. If you have MS Office installed, the dsofile.dll apparently will let you access the properties stored on the details tab when you right click a file in explorer.

For extracting image file data I use Exiftool. It returns a wide range of information and can be put into a .bat file to both extract and write filename, size, exposure, dpi and a lot of other stuff. I'm currently using it with Opus 9 to sort and catalogue all my images and video files from 2005! You can find it at: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/ It's a free program and does a great job of extracting Exif data from my .jpg and .mov files. I wouldn't disagree that with anything Mac says, but you can use Exiftool with Opus actions and the minimum of scripting.
