Hello, I have attached a zip file containing a flash demo of an E-learning Access Training that I have just finished using Opus. This application has been setup given the user the feeling that he/she is using a webpage. This is the reason of why it has pull down menus and to facilitate the learning, the training is given in small modules with plenty of demos and interactive flash so they can practice as they go.
The application collect results as per each of the sections completed and the interactive flash completed. It send the results via email to the person in charge of oversee this training.
I hope you like it and your feedback is appreciated. :D
I don't know what is wrong, I have tried so many times to upload this demo. Please DW check what is wrong.
Cheers
German

See your attachment %'s in "view Messages". Or one of these could be hitting high numbers...

no, my zip is only 2.5 mb so the size is not the problem and I am using Cable so speed is not the problem and still I can't upload the zip.
My firewall is not the problem either since I have this site as one of the approved one.
So, what in hell is going on!

Please find attached the file in question. I have identified and addressed the cause of this problem and you should have no further problems uploading attachments of this size.

Kind regards,

I cannot download this file on a 56k connection.
After 3 or 4 minutes and about 1.30Mb, the download stops, then about 2 minutes later get the message "Connection to the server was reset"
Can't use a download manager as server doesn't resume.
Any ideas? -- the problem isn't at my end, tried 5 times with the same result.
I don't normally have problems downloading files of this size.
cheers
Paul

I have just tried the download and the file is fine. It looks like the problem may be your end.

I can't believe so many problems with this zip file! So apart for the usual complaint, is there any comment?
Has anyone been able to see this demo?????

Nice work Koala.
A few items noted:
1). Use of real-estate. Not having seen the whole application, My comments are for the clip provided. The area taken up by the drop-down menu and the logo seems to be quite big. could distruct the main thrust of the presentation/course. 25% or less of the viewing area would be ideal, or someway of shrinking this upon access to the course contents.

2). The Demos appear to be called in using the macromedia player, How do you control the closing of the player at end? ( wondering minds  ) If your demos will be covering roughly th same area as the opus presentation, could this be called within the presentation? i.e. a generic page that will handle the swf's and also include some of the company theme. The "offline" demos could look somewhat detached from the main presentation. I have read quite a bit on player compatibility/availability in this forum and wondered if this was a concern in your implementation.

Overall nice work koala. Just realised I need some graphics for my learning. Thanks to Craig Gilman for pointing us to inkscape and sodipodi

The main interface was done totally in OPus with a feel of a webpage with dropdown menus. The menus not cover more that 10% of the screen area when used.

This is use for interface and module explanations and collecting score with scripting behind of modules completed. This is non linear application since it was required like that for the customer.

The application is not 800 x 600 or 640 x 480 but instead is less area to accomodate people with different screen resolutions in the company. I can use Opus to force the change of screen but I do not like to do that.

The big logo is just in the splash screen of each demo and the size is decided by the Dept of Public Affairs of this company so I do not have a say in this.

The demos are flash projectors. The decision of calling the demos from a link inside the main publication and not embedding the swf files in Opus is a logistic one. This application will be used in a network environment and in this one, you can't see files embedded in opus fields like doc fields or swf files. The administrators of the network are not prepared to change this so I have to work around this limitation.
Links from inside opus launch pdf files, flash projectors basically. There are no word or excel files.
A flash projector can play a video even if the customer do not have the macromedia flash plugin installed. A flash projector embed the plugin to play.
When people click on the demo, the flash projector is launched and is presented at the top of the opus application for obvious reasons. When people finish the demo or the interactive demo, they can click on an exit button that appears at the projector controls at the bottom of the demo or by clicking on the upper right corner to close the window.
The flash files were manipulated using Macromedia Flash Professional. I added bit and pieces of scripting to capture scores and all that sort of things.
Overall, the client is very pleased with the work and I have already been commissioned to do the next training on Microsoft Excel.

I wanted to show the pdf and flash files from doc fields in Opus but the network environment is the limitation, not Opus.

One more thing....I use Photoshop CS to do my artwork.

Cheers
German

If the problem is at Paul's end I also have the same problem.

When I try to download either showcase.zip or Screens.zip the file(s) are partly downloaded and then I get the message "Connection to the server was reset"

Hi,

Thank you for your enquiry.

It sounds as though you may be using a download manager. Have you tried downloading the file using your browser's standard download dialog (i.e; right-click on the link > Save Target As...)?

If the problem persists, please let me know and use the following temporary links to the files whilst we investigate further:

Kind regards,

Robin

The files downloaded OK from your site. Using IE and Firefox I had the same problem when trying to download from the original post. Firefox just stop transferring data and in IE I get the following error message.

---------------------------
Microsoft Internet Explorer
---------------------------
Internet Explorer cannot download Screens.zip from www.digitalgrapevine.info.

The connection with the server was reset
