Hi
can someone help me please
I'm running an Opus .exe on a dell all in one touchscreen PC.
How can I disable the swipe from the side which brings up the search/settings/etc menu?

cheers
Mac

thanks for the links!
I'm using an all-in-one touchscreen- so no touchpad, in fact no keyboard or mouse even.
What I found since I posted:
if I upgrade windows 8.1 to Pro version I can enter kiosk mode, so this should work but costs money.

or I can edit a registry entry on 8.1 home edition, which is what I will probably try, but I'm very scared of the registry...

many thanks
Mac

edit- seems the kiosk mode can only launch a 'modern' app, so I'm afraid that might exclude an opus publication?

edit: my workaround- I went to the control panel setup tablet touchscreen options (It's not on a tablet but the options were still there) and cheated on the calibration settings, so the GUI thinks the touchscreen is bigger than it really is, so it puts the swipe sensitive are outside the screen area. Whew.

I'm sorry, I haven't noticed that all procedures were only for touchpads. I tried it today and was able to disable it only on touchpad but not the touch screen. You are right that the only way to disable it from the side is using a registry :-(. There are also some small programs but I haven't tried it.

I think I might try to contatct DW support on this one- efectively Microsoft has disabled the ability for Opus Pubs to run as locked down kiosk pubs by prohibiting the disenabling of the edge swipes.
Microsofts own kiosk feature only works with apps from the Microsoft store.
Maybe DW can provide a regedit that safely disables the edge swipes.

My screen calibration workaround (above) sort of works but is a bit mickey mouse.

thanks for replying.
I came across that but it doesn't seem to do everything needed-it apparently stops the corner mouse triggers but not the swipe. And there's also a down swipe that closes the app which winaero doesn't address.
Without wishing to badmouth winaero who may be totally harmless some people say they picked up malware. Even if that's not true I'd rather find a better solution from someone like DW.
Touch wood my workaround with the screen calibration is holding up so far...

cheers
Mac

Well- DW are not prioritising a solution to this issue- they suggest I test HTML 5 to see if that works better.

I think I'll be downgrading my touch screen PC to Win 7 and then see what happens in the next version of Windows when that comes along. Apparently not as far away as one might think.
