I want users to be able to browse a folder and select a video (to a variable) which can then be used as the video to display in a video object.
File browse action almost does what I want but doesn't seem able to be constrained to a specific folder- I don't want users browsing the whole PC.
Any ideas how I might achieve this?

Mac -

My first (and ONLY) thought is simulation. Do screen grabs of the process, then put them together in a Slideshow to simulate the real thing. Since you are not allowing the user to explore anything else, this is the only solution I can imagine.

Good lateral thinking, but won't do what I need.
I should have explained what I'm trying to achieve-
I was hoping my video library friends could drop their .mov videos into a folder and the users would be able to pick which one to play. (Trying to keep it low maintenance.)
The only other option I can think of is that they edit a text file and add each filename.mov on a new line.
I could then use read new lines from file to a variable and make a dropdown pick list.
This is the way I'll go unless someone can give me a better solution.
many thanks for looking at this
cheers
Mac

Hi Mac,

I'd suggest reading the contents of the folder into an Opus list-box that the user can then pick the video from. There are previous posts on this, but it can be done in various ways.

1. Dos CMD can output the directory to a file

2. AutoIT can generate a directory listing

3. If it's for non-commercial use - then we've got a free DLL that you can use. There's a small charge if you want to use it commercial. We've moved our website to Opus HTML5 and not yet added any download / shopping features - but if it's what you need - send me an email -

I've sent an email to you as well
I will look at AutiIT, it looks interesting but I'm not convinced I can cope!

all the best
Mac
