Dear Forum
I am using the Video Player from the Component Gallery.

[list=]I added some video thumbnails to the page
I created a variable called <vcrVideo>
I updated the code to reference the <vcrVideo>
Now I can select a video from the list and it plays fine

My problem are as follows:
When I enter the page the first time everything is Ok
But when I jump to another page and come back to the Video page I get this message



Can anybody help solve this issue please

Checked it with a simple browse for video rather than thumbs and it when back and forth between pages without incident.

The regular video player works fine...even for me
The problem is when you convert "vcrVideo" to a variable.
I went thru all the scripts and renamed to <vcrVideo>.
When you do this it only works the first time you activate the video
Can I send you the project via email?

That particular error is because you are using vcrVideo for the variable name which is the also the name of the video object. Try something else like the example I posted above which uses <myVideo>

Thanks that solved it...but now I have problems witht the fast forward-backward functions (not as stable as I thought)

I am looking for a professional media player plugin that can be used for desktop applications.
I have seen several references to a plugin developed by Interaktiv.
Where can I review and purchase this product?

Yes, I had a brief look over the component but decided it was too convoluted and would take a lot of time to unpick and fix.

You are right, that we do have our own custom built video player for commercial projects.

Here's the original but I'll have a look at tweaking the interface to display the multiple choice rather than picker.

Is the custom commercial video player included in Opus Pro or do I need to purchase it?

The commercial video player you posted looks alot more polished and respond much more smoothly.
Would this be something I could purchase.

A few issues you may want to consider.
1. Do you have a 16:9 form factor? The current form factor is 4:3
2. The single choice video (via Browse) is very useful for some projects so you should keep it.
3) it would also be really nice to display a collection of video thumbnails to activate mutiple videos
4) Ability to customize the panel to create a different skin would be a dream.

My other option would be to purchase a professionlal HTML5 video player based on js and integrate into Opus.
Not sure if this would be easy...and anyway I need to create a Windows Desktop application anyway.

Would really appreciate your thoughts Mack on the above issues.

In addition to the questions above posted a separate thread about Commercial HTML5 Video Players.

Would appreciate your thoughts on what road to take.
1) A custom video player based on the one you have developed (for a purchase fee of course)
2) Commercial HTML 5 player from the CodeCanyon site (integrated into Opus 9 desktop app if possible)

In any case, the standard player offered by Opus does not proivde suffucuent funtionality and requires alot of coding to bring it up to scratch.

If you put some default videos in the same folder as the player and name them 1.mpg to 4.mpg the default buttons will play these. The buttons are just an example, you could run links off any Opus object such as an image (thumbnail) or a listbox.

The video player is built in Opus Pro so you actually get the IMP to design and configure as you wish. We use it a lot for our clients that want to add a standard video styled player to their professional projects. Ratio and design are changed the same way you would customise any other Opus Pro project.

The player is for Opus Pro desktop PC executable solutions not the other formats. Opus HTML5 uses the default player from the host browser and we already provide a YouTube lesson on how to integrate JavaScript control with Opus HTML5 in one of our free YouTube lessons.

The player is not a one stop solution to video in Opus. A look through the forum will reveal the sort of problems that can occur - but assuming the videos for your project play in the example on the machines you need them to, the player provides a ready to run approach to a standard interface.

It's not affiliated to Digital Workshop in anyway. We, Interaktiv, build it, own it and support it.

Hopefully my answer above explains about commercial use of our player - if not let me know other questions.

As for using HTML5 player within an Opus Pro Executable, the only way that would work is to embed a browser object and run the player from a linked web-page. Opus Pro and Opus HTML5 outputs are completely different!

Anything that can be developed for a modern browser - think using Dreamweaver and can worked into Opus HTML5 for a HTML5 output - but none of that will work directly with something published as an executable file.
