Hi,

I am trying to load an .MP4 video into Opus Pro 9.6, I can load the file into the dialogue box OK but the preview box shows nothing and when I try to play the video as an Opus publication *.imp nothing happens.

At a loss to know how to proceed as there are no error messages, just a blank screen when I click the 'preview page' button.

What can I try to make the video play?

How would I know if the file was too large or wrong format etc. The video plays just fine using VLC player or Windows Media Player.

The video is 124Mb, lasts 2mins 49secs.
Frame width 1440,
height 1080,
data rate 6029kbps,
29 frames/sec,
the audio is 125kbps at 48kHz.

I can change the file to any other format if that is more likely to work.

The video will only be played as an Opus publication as part of a presentation.

Kind regards

Martin

Video is an old problem, so searching will throw up lots of posts. Years ago, we had a post on our old website that showed an overview of video tests that we had run. It's here as PDF:

Basically, Opus will need access to a system codec as it doesn't have it's own - licensing issues I guess.

You'll need something like QuickTime for MP4.

If you don't want a third-party codec, then WMV is probably the best choice for high quality video available on most systems.

Many thanks Makavi

I re=formatted it to AVI and it plays a treat. I don't really understand codecs, except that I have several programs that give a step by step guide on what to do for their specific case.

Kind regards and seasons greetings

Martin
