I've scanned the forum and am surprised that the problem I am having has not been brought up before.

Quite simply, I have a text box in which I've typed plenty of text - and this looks fine in the Opus environment and when previewing it within opus. However as soon as I publish, the line spacing seem to increase almost to the extent that it looks double-spaced and I lose the bottom half of my text.

I've been using Opus since the very first versions and never had anything like this sort of inconsistency - now using Opus Pro 4.5, but will have to revert back to Illuminatus Opus 2002 until I can sort this.

Any ideas would be most welcome. Attached image shows ...
1. Page inside Opus
2. Page in preview mode
3. Page in the .EXE after publish

Regards,
Colin Bell (not the footballer)

Hi,

Thank you for your enquiry.

We have received no other reports of this issue which suggests that the problem may be the result of problems communicating with the system or a corruption in the Opus registry settings or program files. Please try the following procedure:

Please visit www.microsoft.com/windows/directx and follow the instructions given at the web site to locate, download and install the latest version of DirectX.

Once DirectX has been updated and the system restarted, please use the following procedure to update your graphics drivers:

- Click Start > Settings > Control Panel > System

- Select the Device Manager tab (if you are using Windows 2000 or XP, you will need to select the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button)

- You should see a list of hardware types currently installed on your machine. Click on the plus-sign next to the Display Adapters entry to display the corresponding component

- Make a note of the make, model and any other information displayed

- Now visit the manufacturer's website (in most cases, this will be either www.nvidia.com, www.ati.com or www.matrox.com) and click the Download Drivers link on the homepage

- Follow the on-screen instructions to locate the latest drivers for your model of graphics card. Once located, download and install the drivers using any advice given on the manufacturer's site.

Once the latest drivers have been installed and the system restarted, please use the following procedure to cleanly reinstall and update Opus Presenter:

Please first uninstall all versions of Opus from your system. To do this, click Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Look through the list of installed programs for any references to Illuminatus Opus, Illuminatus Opus Pro, Opus Pro XE or Opus Presenter. If found, click on the entry to highlight it, then click the Remove button to uninstall the software.

Once all versions of Opus have been uninstalled, please right-click on your Start button and select Explore... Navigate to C:\Program Files and look for any folders referring to Illuminatus Opus, Illuminatus Opus Pro, Opus Pro XE or Opus Presenter. If found, simply click on the folder to highlight it, then press Delete on the keyboard.

Once all Opus program folders have been deleted, click Start > Run, type regedit and click OK. Double-click on the HKEY_CURRENT_USER folder to display its contents. Double-click on the Software folder to display its contents. Now single-click on the Digital Workshop folder to highlight it and press Delete on the keyboard. Click Yes to confirm the deletion. Now please close the Registry Editor using the X icon in the top-right of the screen.

Now reinstall Opus Pro 04 from the original CD-ROM. Once installed, please launch Opus Pro and click Help > About Opus Professional > System Information. If your version number reads 04.00, 04.10, 04.21 or 04.30, please close Opus Pro, then download and install the latest Service Release from:

ftp://ftp.digitalworkshop.com/pub/opusu ... 04_SR4.exe

This should update your Opus Pro installation to the latest version. Now launch Opus Pro, load in your publication and try to publish to a standalone executable.

If the text issue is still present, please send your project .imp file to support@digitalworkshop.com and I will investigate further.

Kind regards,

Colin (not the football player) -

Try this: Select the Text Object. Go into Properties - Text. See if the "Antialising" option (located in center of window) is set to "Auto." If it is, set it to "Level I."

Any chance you did a Copy & Paste with this text? If so, highlight all of it, click your right mouse, and select Paragraph. Reset the line spacing to "Single" in case it was "Exact."

Let us know if this solves your mystery. (Are you sure you're not the "football player?"). FYI: I think it's "PowerPoint" with a capital "P" run together into the Power.

Thanks Robin and Fred for your replies.

Fred - I did have aliasing set to level 1 and the text was typed in directly into the text object, with line spacing set to single. The whole presentation was actually ported from Illuminatus Opus Pro 2.6 - I bought the Opus Pro 4.5 to see if it fixed another bug I was having with not being able to find DocView objects (but won't go into that here - been covered lots in these forums).

I was all set to try Robin's comprehensive suggestion but this morning after doing only one thing, it now seems to work ... I had converted my publication into Opus 4.5 after backing up everything to a CD - that's when the problem first appeared. Due to short deadline - I deided to temporarily go back to my Opus 2.6 version - so I renamed the directory with the converted Opus 4.5 files, and restored the Opus 2.6 files into the original named directory.

This morning - I loaded Opus 4.5 (an the publication in the renamed directory) just to check Fred's suggestions, they were fine - republished anyway and the line spacing in the final EXE is now fine. So all I did was change the directory name! Of course, we're using MS Windows here, so maybe just the reboot sorted it.

Anyway it works now - although I am going to keep Robin's response and carry out his suggestions anyway when I get this project out of the way. Hope this has not wasted too much of anyones time. Thanks for the suggestions - and thanks to DW for Opus - still a great product.

Colin
