I have Opus 04 pro XE 4.5 and I'm trying to import a vector graphic and when I click on the menu option Import Vector, Opus immediatly quits responding. Has anyone had this problem? Possible fixes?
Thanks,
Brad E

Hi,

Thank you for your enquiry.

This could occur if the vector image in question is particularly large (for example, an image which has been traced at the highest quality settings in a vector-conversion utility such as Corel TRACE or Xara X).

Try reducing the quality of the original trace operation and see if the resulting image imports without problems. If the problem persists, please feel free to post your vector image (or e-mail it to support@digitalworkshop.com) and I will be happy to investigate further.

Kind regards,

I have similar problems importing wmf files - Opus displays an error message, ("Sorry, this Metafile contains some unsupported functions which could not be converted to vectors, do you want to continue?)" but imports the file anyway, even though there are a large number of sub-vectors. I was quite impressed, but why the error message?

Vectors are much more difficult to move from one app to another than raster images are.
If you get the error message "Sorry, this Metafile contains some unsupported functions which could not be converted to vectors, do you want to continue?" some parts of the image will be missing or altered in some way -- Opus is just telling you about it.
Some well known graphics apps don't produce a wmf that complies with the wmf specs -- these metafiles don't import into Opus well -- Adobe Illustrator and Macromedia Freehand spring to mind, they are designed to work with other apps from the same stable.

Wmf files can contain raster information as well as vector information. As you are trying to convert the file to an Opus vector it will be unable to retain any raster information. This is the most likely cause of the warning.
