I have written an application in Opus Pro and wondered whether it would work on a Citrix platform and if there are any technical issues to bear in mind.

Thanks

Thank you for your enquiry.

We have performed no formal testing of Opus publication over Citrix Metaframe or other thin-client technologies. However, I have spoken to customers in the past who have used Opus publications in this environment without problems.

Obviously with any thin-client system, bandwidth is always the major concern. However, Opus publications are ideally suited for streaming purposes (as this is the way publications run from CD-ROM).

I do recall one discussion with a Citrix user who claimed that DirectX features (such as transitions, video and animations) in publications seemed to perform sluggishly when viewed over the network and found that disabling the DirectX features in the publication (Publication > Publication Properties > DirectX) allowed the publication to run correctly (albeit with the loss of many animations and transitions). However, several new versions of Citrix have been released since the original enquiry, and this problem may no longer be present.

Kind regards,
