I use Opus to built user interfaces that control external devices like video players, slide dissolve systems and MP3/midi players in musea. These devices may be controlled through their serial ports. Life would be much easier if opus was able (as launch or print option) to send data (ASCII/HEX) to a serial port (1/2, speed). HEX is important, because often a string needs to end with 0D (enter).
Now I have to use a small external utility to achieve this, but this has the disadvantage that the utility needs time to shut down and release the com-port, which limits the frequency strings can be sent.
