I haven't stumbled across this yet in Opus, so I'm assuming it's not there ... If it is, please do let me know!

I have previously used a presentation program called Astound (now sadly defunct) which produced video output (now in XE, I gather) and also had a rather nice object replace feature.

So, you could within Astound:

- explore objects
- select any object (say a picture, logo, animation, button etc.) that you wanted to replace with a different one, and which might appear in numerous places throughout your publication
- choose a replacement object
- click to confirm

and viola, all instances of that object are instantly updated.

Saves hours, sometimes ....

If you have Pro or Pro XE you can use the Resource Manager to change all or some instances of a resource for another resource. So you can change one image for another very easily. You cannot change the type of an object (so an image cannot become a text object).

This can be achieved using the 'Set/Clear Resources' function in the Resource Manager. For example:

- Create a blank new publication
- Add an image object to Page 1 and set it to a particular image
- Now duplicate Page 1 nine times. This should leave you with ten pages, all containing the same image file
- Click Tools > Resource Manager
- Locate the image resource in the right-hand pane
- Right-click on the resource and select Set/Clear Resources
- Select 'Set the resources to this file' and browse to the image you wish to replace the current image
- Select the 'Resources Selected in List' option and tick the 'Apply to all uses of each resource' checkbox
- Click OK
- All instances of the original image should now be replaced with the new image file
