Apart from observing that it's not spelt correctly, what can I type in the index of the help file to get more info on this?

Thanks, Linda

hi,

it seems there is no help for bilinear resample...
This function is wonderfull if you want to scale or rotate a picture inside opus (it has no effect if you don't modify the picture). This function is the same that paint software (fireworks, pshop...) use for rescalling the picture: the result is a much more clean picture. You can try it in opus by "ticking" the "enable Bilinear resample" on the picture properties, after having rotate (for example) this picture.

Benoit,

Thanks for the explanation... I love the result, but do you think it puts more strain on the playback pc, or is it rendered in some way?

Linda

I understand it will slow down the final publication a little but how much depends on what it is being used for. But Dave or Duncan might be able to be more specific.

We've put something in the help now :-)

here is the answer of Dave Emberton about this question :

"The customer's computer has to do the resample. This means if for example you had a rotate action on an image with the resample, the rotation won't run as smoothly as without the resample, as the resampled rotate is considerably slower than the normal rotate.
But in normal cases, the resample will only happen once at the start of the page, so shouldn't have any significant impact on playback."

It also works with transparent images (i.e. a transparent colour, or a PNG with alpha channel), which is useful as it gives an antialiased effect to the edges that the normal resize makes a complete mess of.

The downsides are the speed, and that it does make the image look slightly blurred.

Yes, I was experimenting last night with a transparent image of a magnifying glass with a handle, moving across the screen and rotating, whilst enlarging the image underneath.

The result is very impressive... my partner's just rushed off to London to show the client!

Hello,

The new image bilinear resample feature is great.

For future revisions would it be possible to include the option in the Chapters Properties - General, so that Bilinear Resample could set to be used on all images automatically when chapter/page resizing occurs.

This would be super for older publications as I'm currently looking at editing over 1000 images across 100s of pages otherwise, to enable Bilinear Resample on all the images. So they look nice when the user is using 800x600 resolution.

Bye,

Joe
