Having only just started to get serious with version 5, I seem to have stumbled across a couple of issues - maybe someone can confirm...

1). I have a button whose text I wish to change colour from black (normal) to white (mouseover). I have set this up, I think, correctly, and it works in preview. But it fails to work in the published presentation.

2). I'm also having trouble getting my head round locking of groups or frames. I would have thought locking one or other would mean that the contents can't be selected or moved either, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I was hoping in this new build that if anything was locked, it meant it couldn't be selected at all (as in other programmes). Could somebody please explain, once and for all, what the locking procedure is, and what I should expect if I lock a group, or a frame?

Thanks

The text not changing colour on mouse overs has been identified and a fix for this is in the pipeline and should be available very soon.

The lock feature is really intended to lock the object for other users not for the person creating the original publication.

Being able to set permissions on objects means that you can easily create a company Style Guide for all of your publications by creating template pages that have logos, buttons and other objects ‘locked’. Opus Standard and Opus Presenter users cannot change the appearance or position of objects that have had permissions set, thereby ensuring a consistent look and feel to all of your publications.

For a fuller explanation of the lock feature open the Opus help from the help drop down menu and select search using the term:

"Permission tab"

Thanks, Brenden. I'll await the patch.

As regards locking, I take your point.

However, I remember posting on the Wish List sometime ago a desire to be able to lock out any objects (including Frames, and now Groups) so that they cannot be inadvertently selected at all whilst one is working on something else on the page.

One should be able to compose a group of drawn items, for example, and still have them resident on the page currently being worked on whilst locked and unselectable. This would enable other objects to be placed over them and manipulated without the annoyance of accidentally selecting the locked group, if you see what I mean.

This is one of the things layers are intended for.
When working with layers the only objects that are editable are the ones on the current layer.
Also layers can be hidden if required so you can de clutter the workspace.

Thanks again, Brenden. Obviously further experimentation is required!!

I'd clean forgotten about the new layers facility - sorry to waste your time!
