Hi !
I'm confronted with this problem:

I'm putting together a CD with a few offline web pages that I want the user to view. However, the user is supposed to use the Internet Explorer only to view these files (because I've found out that some things don't work with other browsers, like Firefox).

I've set up a button and attached the launch file action to it . But if a person has a different browser set up as default the page loads with this standard browser and not IE.

How do I get Opus to specifically open up a web page, using IE on everyone's machine ??

:?:

Well, the answer you probably don't want to hear is to write the HTML pages so they are standards compliant and work properly on all browsers! That way you don't need to force your choice of browser on anybody.

Assuming you cannot or don't want to do that; using a Launch File action with the filename "iexplore.exe", the path to the HTML file as the paramenter and no "Found at" path should work on 99% of systems (barring 95 with no IE or security conscious/paranoid users who have removed or renamed the ixplore executable.)

Thanks Duncan for your quick reply !

I think I'll have a shot at the second option, hoping that there are not too many users out there who have banned IE from there system.

Have a nice weekend :D

I suggest you consider whether you will annoy Firefox users who still have IE installed by doing this ...people who bother to switch to Firefox do so for a reason. Firefox is my default, and I would not be happy that your CD insisted on using IE - this would affect my opinion of you and your product/service.

Problem is that I have javascript tooltips with short explanations of words that pop up on mouse over events. For some reason they won't work with Firefox. I myself use Firefox too , but as Duncan foresaw correctly I'm not that keen on rewriting all the pages .

Since you indicated these are "off-line" web pages, why not just do screen captures of them, then simulate using a Browser? You could crop your screen captures and remove any indication of which Browser you used. I build software simulations all the time with postive responses from clients.
