I am trying to build a simple e-book with parts of 30 pages of an RTF word document in each page of the new Opus publication so that the reader can read a chapter in each page of the Opus publication. When I tried to import the first 30 pages into page 1 of the new opus publication I only could get properly imported the first page of the RTF. The other lines were on top of each other and they don't display properly even with a scrollbar. I can send a print screen if you want to see clearly what happens. Wasn't it supposed that Opus could import an RTF document without problems, or am I doing something wrong?

Opus does claim to be able to import RTF files.

However, several years of running a secretaila services bureau taught me that not all RTF files are equal. I am aware of at least 4 RTF formats that are incompatible with some word processors. As a simple example, MS Word will not always import RTF files created in WordPad or WordPerfect (plus a few others). MS refused to acknowledge this as being a problem, but the people at Corel, a couple of years back, produced a detailed analysis of the issue. I don't remember the full details, but the inconsistency was such that I stopped using RTF files and switched to using PDF.

I don't know what limitations Opus places on the RTF variations it will handle. Obviously, if you can import without problems, you should keep doing so. If not, there are alternatives.

I still produce files from several applications and save them in RTF. Next I open these in WordPerfect 11. To date I have not found an RTF file that WP11 cannot open. Once in WP11, I use the built-in feature to save as PDF. This is simple and fast.

I have opened these PDF files in Adobe Reader from version 3 to version 6.

I include these PDF files as part of an Opus pub and use Steve Wright's fantastic utility PrintPDF to print them. If I need to display part or all of these files from within Opus, I bring them in as text files.

This might seem cumbersome, but it really isn't. And, the underlying factor for me is that this method works for me EVERY TIME.

We lookd at the rtf file and the problem only occurs in Opus 2.8. In Opus 04 the rtf import was improved and the example rtf file imported correctly.
