Unfortunatley the Camtaisa Studio Meets Opus project will not continue. The Digital Wokshop support has been unresponsive in answering a few emails let along trying to resolve any technical issues.

The eiProject organization with it monitors has found that technical support is unacceptable, forum response it not consistant with key questions left unanswered. We are unable to Spread the Word about Opus.

It is as though that DW team is not focused on the key components of managment.

Regards,

Rick Blanc

For those of us who have no idea what this project is/was, can you give us a heads-up please.

Hi Swan,

The project was to use Opus as a wrapper for the Camtasia Studio moives. Producers using Camtasia Studio would be able to drop their movies into Opus and utilize Opus menuing system for instance.

Rick --

Your message is puzzling. First, why did you post it in the "Basic" section of the OPUS Discussion boards? At best it might go under "Lounge."

Next, how would helping Camtasia, sell any copies of OPUS? It seems fairly obvious that if the OPUS staff is busy selling their product and helping current customers, they'd have little/no time for something like this.

What is the problem that you wanted DW's help solving? That's what this board is about.

The problem is no responses form key staff members of Digital Workshop and most certainly not the users. This was a joint project based upon marketing Opus through our tradeshows and the Spread the Word about Opus campaign. It has nothing to do with the users. It is a combination of no replies and bugs within Opus Flex.

It becomes apparent if you were to visit the links I provide - that eiProject is not trying to sell more Camtasia Studios products - the Camtasia Studio user would add Opus to their list of production tools - Unfortunately you have missed the point.

Thank you for your concern.

Rick

Maybe the problem is just your patronising attitude to everything since you arrived on the scene.

Hi Paul,

Please show me where I have patronised? I am here letting those who have knowledge of the project understand why it will end - and here you are unfortunately attacking on a personal level.

So DW was in on this from the start? Why didn't they tell us they had teamed up with you on this. From the impression I got you alone decided to set up shop and relentlessly bug DW about perceived flaws in Opus. ( really lack of understanding on your part)

I am confussed as to why DW would not let us know of this offically.

Hi Rick

After reading all of your 39 posts on this forum, I could only find
1 without a more than adequate resopnse.

Flex initializing a page is not consistant - see movie

So to say that "forum response it not consistant with key questions left unanswered"
is not exactly being truthful or fair to the several members of this forum
(including myself) who have taken their time to answer your questions.
In fact, most of your posts have several useful and direct responses
to your questions.

I'm sorry that you didn't find Opus suitable to your needs, but that's
no reason to go after people who have in fact been very helpful and
responsive to your questions.

Chris

Hello,

I don't post very often, but I do follow maost of the threads and I had never heard of this project !

I don't think rickb was complaining about the users on the forum, but more about the support from DW. Its true that it does seem to have been more patchy since Robin & the others left.
I noticed that there's a thread about databases somewhere which Brenden has answered with a non-Database solution, but the request for an explenation of a database solution has been ignored. This seems to be more and more common on this forum these days.

Opus is a really great program, but I just wonder if its losing its way a touch.

Terry, the project was not in any way tied into DW. The fellow named 'rickb' decided on his own to try to pull DW and all the people who help here into his world. He has been trying to make an on-line virtual trade show. He is all over internet with this 'project' and tries to put himself in charge of things and represents himself as working for the different companies. He helps out on a forum like this and then tells people he is tech support for that company, ...like he has a real position. (go to the Camtasia forum) In a forum for another software program there is a whole thread of people that think he works for Mozilla or Firebird and were giving up valuable time thinking they were getting involved with one of the big guys.

He wasn't getting the help and special attention he thought he should get from DW and started a thread to 'pick apart' the Flex Plug-in and stir up trouble. viewtopic.php?t=943&highlight= The issue was, he was getting good help but didn't really know what he was doing with this software and wanted it to do things his way and it didn't work like that.

Now I said all that to say this: I and others here use a lot of different software to get our projects done. I have software from about 8 different companies, big ones. There is no other place in the past or present that has the kind of help, assistance and bending over backwards, that I and other have received from DW. This has been brought up many times in the past with resounding support from the users here. If you say you have been readiing this forum for a while and noticed the level of help going down I will remind you that this is primarily a user to users forum. So where has all your help been?

I can confirm that we have no official involvement with or sponsorship of this "project", nor Mr Blanc.

We provided a review copy of the program in return for a promise of marketing as we do with a number of webmasters and journalists.

I have taken this up with Mr Blanc privately. Should anyone find he continues to misrepresent his relationship with this company on other forums or if he makes damaging comments regarding Digital Workshop or its staff I would appreciate being advised so we can consider appropriate action.

Evereddie,

Thanks for the reminder that this is primarily a user forum.

Here's what DW say:

Quote:
Digital Workshop is committed to providing the highest level of support for all its products. We do this through email, fax, web forums, discussion groups and our dedicated technical support hotline.

I am aware that DW has a reputation for providing support beyond the call of duty. This forum, and the previous version, and the now defunct illuminatus4um.com witnessed extraordinary levels of support provided at all times of day & night by DW staff members.
It just seems to me that DW's past performance is keeping going a reputation which is becoming less justified.

I realise that things will be hard with severely depleted tech support and development teams, but there just doesn't seem to be the level of support that there used to be.
