In The Lounge, Fred pointed out the joys of the new Text Default.

But I can't make it work...

When I copy the text to the gallery, I then right-click, but the "Set as Default Object" option is greyed out.

It works for images and buttons, but not text.

Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong?

Linda, I don't think the feature is available for Text Defaults on the toolbar flyouts.

There is for Frames however, and if you insert your customised text into a frame, then make that frame a default, the text will become a default in the Frame's flyout toolbar. This may be a bit cumbersome to attain a text default, but at least this method is there and can come in handy.

The Flyout defaults are a terrific features in 05. :)

Steve is right, it has never been possible to put Text Defaults on the toolbar flyouts. You can set the defulats for text in the tools Options.

I stand corrected.

In place of changing the Defaults for Text Objects, just create one, then customize it; then copy it into one of your Galleries. You can have a totally customized "look" for each different Text Object situation -- all ready to go in your Components Gallery.

When you need a Title, go to your Gallery and select the Title Text Object. Main text? Same thing. This speeds your development process AND it gives you uniformity throughout your text.
