Yes they can, Brad. In fact, you may well want to keep 2.81 because pubs made with this can't be imported into 05 - not without problems anyway.

But you have to be carefull when opening either 2.81 or 05 which one Opus is going to.

You might use the shortcut to get to 2.81 (with a different shortcut to go to 05) and find if you have the same pub in both versions, that Opus asks if you want to update the publication - but you thought you had already done that - it has gone to the latest version.

You usually have to go up a level to see that you are on the version you want. This can be frustrating when you put images in the resource folder - only to find they have gone to another resource folder. You always have to check exactly where you are.

Hi,

I have ILM 4, Opus Pro 4.5, and Opus Pro XE 05 all on the one pc. I've never experienced any problems in the years of using Opus, as this thread has described. :?

Maybe it is a registry thing on different OS', but it may be helpful if you encounter these problems that you close your publications in whichever version you are using, before exiting Opus.

One obvious way to avoid confusion is to perhaps append '05' or '281' to your pub name in the editor, so you can instantly distinguish which pub is being loaded.

As said though, I've never had these problems. :)

As Steve suggests, I always label my projects with the version they're made in, as well as increasing the number of the file each day by one, so the project I'm working on today , for example, is called Carillion012_XE5_13.imp

Then in a year's time when I need to maker changes, I'll stand a chance.

I've also got ILM 4, Opus Pro 2.81 and Opus Pro XE 05 on my pc, as well as 2 Presto betas... I have to say that somewhere in recent upgrading (either of Presto or XE 05) my version 2.81 stopped working... I uninstalled and reinstalled to no effect so I've left it alone for now... I presume I'd have to uninstall everything and clear the registry to get it working again, which I have neither time nor inclination to do at the moment!

Linda
