Hi

When I set and use a customized hypertext (without underlining), the hypertext’s text is raised slightly above the line for the remaining text (as though it is saving space for underlining which isn't present). No matter how I try to re-format, re-do this, it fails. The line looks a bit odd with the hypertext out of alignment. (I have noticed this issue since 04 XE, so it appears not to be only a 05 XE issue.)

Any suggestions?

Kind Regards,

Stephen

Hi

I experimented with deleting the hyperlink and creating the same action using a hotspot. The result for text in parentheses( ) was the same, with the hotspotted text slightly above the remaining text in the line (or so it appears).

So, the possibility is that the mis-alignment is a result of the parentheses' placement/alignment and not the hypertext effect. (The only other difference is that for these hotpotted (or hypertext) items, I've changed the color, though not font size or bolding. I don't believe this is causing the issue, since, absent parentheses, no mis-alignment)

Has anyone else tried hypertext or hotspotting text within parentheses and gotten this mis-aligned result?

Kind Regards,
Stephen

Stephen,

Can you send support an example image of this. I have been trying to replicate this without any luck. I have been looking at the text at 600% magnification and can't see any raised text. As far as I am aware parentheses should not make any difference to the text. One thing you could try is turning off automatic text formatting in tool -- options -- more -- other.

Hi Brenden

I've e-mailed a zip file containing the sample to Support.

I'll also try the format suggestion.

Kind Regards,

Stephen

Hi Brenden

I did try the format option under Tools with no change.

However, perhaps, it's me. As I look at ( ) around capitalized MS Trebouchet Bold text in font color different than surrounding text and the ( ), hyperlinked or not, it appears that the ( ) ride a little above the text's center line.

This may simply be a "normal" font style feature. I tried the same text in MS Word and, while, perhaps, not as pronounced, it is quite similar.

So, maybe, a "false alarm."

Thanks for your looking into it.

Kind Regards,
Stephen

Stephen,

I have had a look at your example and it looks fine I think it may just be an optical illusion.

Or there is something in your drink! See the attached GIF for a real optical illusion.

Seriously though, I did some testing and could not find any problem in 05... I used the 'customise' for New Style : Text Effect, and made the hypertext font "As is" and the same as the other text. It viewed ok for me.

OK... here's your optical illusion...
