I'm using Opus 5 trial version. Is there a way to create a page that is already zoomed to fit the page. Currently, everytime I create a new page it seems that the view is on one corner of the page. It's a hassle having to zoom to fit the page every time I create one or duplicate one. Please help.

Hi, not entirely certain of what you're describing with multiple "pages". At a guess, you could look at some property settings:

(1) at publication level, Window location and size
(2) at chapter level, General -> Initial View, and set to Centre.

But if I've misunderstood the problem, my apologies.

Regards
Linnet

The original poster is talking about the editor; not any publication settings. There is currently no way to set an initial zoom setting - it is a per-view setting. I will add it to our list of suggestions for future improvements.

What determines what the view percentage will be then. It seems to be random for every new page created.

I also wanted to add that in the v2.6 of Opus Pro I was able to change the view size of a chapter and this would change the view setting for every page within that chapter.

This doesn't work in Opus Pro XE v5.10!!!!

Hi marcointerial,

Paul is right it does work! :)

However I am taking a hunch in assuming that you have imported a 2.6 pub with custom size pages into 05. If this is the case, go in Chapter Properties and reselect and reconfirm the Custom Size parameter box. This will quickly fix this tiny issue. Then all subsequent newly created pages will be correct in that chapter.

It's always best to start from scratch a new project if possible, in the new version. ;)

In reference to using v5.10, I'm not sure about the trial version, but the full version is 05.14 and also has a zoom-to-fit icon you can add to a toolbar for convenient use. This comment is in response to your initial post about zooming to fit the page.

Also worth mentioning, (apart from the immense amount of new features in 05 compared to 2.6) is you can set a page to zoom-to-fit the screen resolution (or shrink to fit), without the use of scrollbars. This is a great feature -- have a look at Chapter Properties tab >> Resizing options.

I must be doing something wrong then, because I've gone into Opus Pro XE version 5.10. I click on the "New Publication" Icon and a menu opens asking me what type of publication I want. I select the first type which is Opus Professional and then click finish. This opens up a window displaying a page within a chapter that is zoomed to 100% with scroll bars on the right and bottom sides. I go to that page and zoom it to fit then I go create a new page. The new page sometimes is zoomed to fit, sometimes to 100%. It's not constant. Sometimes It will work for the first few pages then it will change. I'm not sure what is going on.

Hi,

Since your referring strictly back to the editor again, then why don't you use the Full Screen edit mode? (Shortcut on keyboard is F10)

It most cases, it's not that hard working in the normal 100% mode, as there are many tools to align/centralise and whatnot available -- you quickly press F5 to preview the page. You can also toggle the Organiser (CTRL-1) to get more workspace view. (But Duncan has seen your point and has mentioned your consideration for the next version is previous reply.)

Hope this helps :)
