I've thinking of using ideas I've seen done in flash and recreating them in Opus. One effect I've found and quite like - is a ripple effect that looks like a reflection of an image in water. This uses a vector shape as a mask moving across the image with a shape tween-

Can I make a mask in Opus? would an effect like this be easy to recreate?

Craig -

Before you do a lot of "heavy lifting," take a look under Properties -> Effects -> Blend -> Select "Animated" from drop down, then notice DW already created:

Pulse
Scratchy Animation
Static Animation
Water Animation

This may be just what you wanted. Hope so...

Anfy java applets can be displayed in a minimal web browser window - I have had great success with their zoom/pan applet, to display the contents of a large book.

here are some examples of their ripple effects. (The droplets respond to mouse action)
They appear to be free and unrestricted for kiosk use...

Thanks for those suggestions - I already know about the animations in the blend settings - but they don't give the desired effect.

I also know about Java applets - but again - sticking them in a browser window isn't quite what I had in mind.

I've had a play with a variation on the way the magnifying glass tutorial works - but so far have had little success. - Oh if only Opus had mask objects. - one for the wishlist perhaps?!

I'll keep playing and see if I can come up with something - if I do work it out I'll let ya know!

I had a play around with frames - and images in frames.. and moving frames with the image fixed to the page - this is my result after a little experimentation.

this time I changed a few things.. putting the image in the frame on an angle makes it look more like a reflection. I also added the water animation blend to the vector marking out the reflective area. There's now less frames- 6 to be exact and 2 timelines. So its a bit more economical !

I could go on for days playing and tweaking - but I think I'll leave it for now!
