Is it possible to record mouse and keyboard on specific pages?
I want to create a page that when visited - will play a voice over and demonstrate what each navigational button does, but the page in question is several pages into the pub and I dont want to record mouse, keyboard activity on any other pages.

Pete

Sorry Pete, this is not possible. You could copy the page into a new publication and then record the publication. Next export it as a video and include the video in your main publication.

You could use an external capture program, then include the resulting avi in your pub.

The Graphics in Action web site has a FREE one, 'Camstudio' for download in their Tools section.

If it is one page in the whole publication I think you might be able to cheat...

Make the page you want to record the first one in the publication.
Clear the recording history, then start the Record Publication preview and record that page.
Exit the recording and move the page back to where you actually want it.
Now when you run the publication it might playback just that page...

Note; I haven't tried this and I may be talking rubbish...

However....

When I finished recording the page
I used the escape key to finish the recording
Now when i play the pub back it does precisely that
it exits the publication...
so how do i finish recording the preview without exiting the pub?

Pete

Think we sorted it with a go to next page on the timeline

Pete,

Try this, put a page after the current animated page set something to go to the next page maybe a frame with a mouse over. When recording go to the next page and then escape. Now simple delete the second page and the escape will go with it. Well that is the theory. (Blame Duncan if it does not work, his idea.)

I like your idea Duncan. :)

Pete...

Your solution is simple. Just put an exit button on the page and click that when finished Recording the page, instead of using the ESC key. Then before publishing, just delete the Exit Button, or change it to do something else. No need of timelimes. ;)

It's amazing what can be done with Opus! :D

Guys

Thanks - but as there was a voice over playing on the timeline
by placing a "go to next page" prior to my hitting the escape button

It did the trick - so in fact - that was easier than your suggestions in this instance - Thanks anyway - I will certainly remember those tips if I have a similar problem in the future.
However it would be good to have a "stop recording" button to overcome this issue

Pete
