Digital Workshop

I am examining setting up a simple digital signage project using a media pc and a flat panel tv. I would like to create a media player using opus to play audio files, video files and opus presentations (to display things like time etc.) Basically how it should operate is that a list of items to be played will be used to run several media files one after the other through out the day. Where a video only (without audio) is played play ambient sound. ANy thoughts on implementaion of ifi it has been done.
