Hi

I’ve set a Mouse Over/Attributes/Change Text Colour action. Works fine, apart from the fact that the text won’t revert to the original colour when the mouse is moved away. I’ve tried Mouse Exit actions, to no avail. But surely it should be the similar to the effect produced in Properties.

I know my face will be red when someone comes up with a very, very basic solution. :?

I have used this effect quite a lot and have once or twice thought I have set the action when in fact I have not. It is easy to mis out on selecting the appropriate object in the 'Change Text Colour' tab - there is no automatic 'this object' selected like on some other features. I have tried it out again just now and it woks fine.

Regards

Clive

Thanks for your response, Clive. I take your point about selecting the relevant text object - and I have no problems changing the text from, say, black to red. What I still need to happen is for the text to change back to black when the mouse moves away from it. The fact that this is happening for you adds to my confusion.

Regards

Roger

Roger,

Do you have an example you could send to support@digitalworkshop.com for us to take a look at. Are you running 05.14?

Thanks, Brenden. I'll knock up an example and send it to you.

Roger,

You have set a mouse over action but you have not set a mouse exit action. You need to tell Opus that you want the text colour changed when the mouse is moved away from the text.

I tried that Brenden (see my first post). All I get is a Multi-Trigger action which has the effect of stopping any colour change at all. I'm taking the following steps:

1. Select Mouse Over
2. Select Attributes
3. Select Change Text Colour
4. Select relevant text
5. Change colour
6. Click Apply
7. Select Mouse Exit, and repeat above (selecting the original colour in 5)

Where am I going wrong?

Regards

Roger

Roger,

When you are adding a second trigger you need to make sure you have the object you want to add the trigger to selected and not the first trigger.
If you create a multi trigger by mistake you can simply drag the trigger back up onto the object.
Please take a look at the attached example; this is how it should look.

Roger --

If you see "Multi Trigger" in your example, you have incorrectedly added the "Mouse Exit" Trigger.

Try this: In the left window under ACTION tab you should see "Mouse Over" as one Trigger. Now highlight the top most item on the List in the left window. It should be the name of your Object. Now, go to the Triggers Tab on the right side window. Go down to "Mouse Exit" and double-click it.

This should cause the "Mouse Exit" Trigger to appear as the last item in the left window, under your original "Mouse Over" Trigger. If not -- you're doing something wrong.

Multi Trigger is telling OPUS to take some Action when multiple Triggers are used. If you have both "Mouse Over" and "Mouse Exit" within a Multi Trigger -- they cancel each other, so nothing happens, or maybe just the first Action happens. In your situation, you do NOT want Multi Trigger.

Got it guys!

I wasn't highlighting the topmost item on the list before clicking on Mouse Exit. As I said at the start, I knew I'd end up with a red face.

Thanks Fred and Brenden.
