I am relatively new to Pro 5 - so please excuse me if these are dumb questions!

I am creating a publication that allows people to print out various pages of photos and artwork - only I am not sure how I can make a page that when printed will be A4 size - everything so far has been screen size only (1024 x 768).

Also, if the publication is designed for 1024 x 768 screen res - what happens when it is used by a computer with only 800 x 600? Is there a way of formatting the publication so that it will resize to suit the end-users screen res? or do I have to design it for 800 x 600 so that it will fit on screen on any computer?

All help much appreciated!

Thanks,
Emma.

Hi Emma,

re: your screen res question...

On the Chapter Properties Tab, select the "Resizing" Options horizontal & vertical. You can set it so your 1024 x 768 screen res publication will "shrink to fit" on a computer with only 800 x 600 resolution.

Have a play with the settings and tick "maintain aspect ratio". You can also "uncheck" the 4 max/min parameter boxes, so they are greyed out... then the pub should display automatically and shrink or stretch to the screen resolution.

A good trick to get exactly what you want to print is to print from a hidden page. You can make a chapter in a very big size (resolution) and put the pages in there exactly like you want. These pages will never be seen by the user. You can even do a little different layout if that fits the need. When you build a print button in the page you want to print just point it at the hidden page. This only works of course if the page is static and not contain changable elements.

Do a search on the forum on 'hidden' or 'print'.

Thanks very much for you help - I suspected it wasn't going to be too tricky, it's just knowing what to look for.
Emma. :D
