I am trying to get the system IP to show when you click the button , but i think i am going about it the right way. What i have tried is this

Launch program ipconfig.exe

But the window open and close right away , if i just open up a Cmd window and type ipconfig it displays properly but for some reason when done threw OPUS Pro it just opens and auto shuts back down....

I am ready to learn...show me the way ( smile )

Thanks

Hi Al

This is not my area of exertise but I did an Internet search and after a while with some experimentation, found a solution but not the ideal solution unfortunately.

To run ipconfig, you cannot run it from windows but have to run it from a command prompt.

Assuming you have xp. you can launch a command prompt window by launching the file 'cmd' (without the inverted commas)

You would then type ipconfig when the command prompt window appears.

There might be a way to script the command in?

If you use xp and run ipconfig.exe you'll get the same open and close window that you now get.

However if you run cmd/k ipconfig.exe you'll get a dos window that stays open.

Someone else is bound to happen along with a solution soon, but this will give you something to play with in the meantime!

Cheers

Graham

You could use:

ipconfig >mytextfile.txt

to write the ip information to a text file that can then be read into a text object or using the read text file action.

I did have an example of this in the office but I am at home now and don't have it to hand. If you can't figure it out let me know on Monday and I will try to look the example out.

Al,

Pleae take a look at the attached example.

The actions are simple enough:

The "Get IP" button runs a small VBS that in turn runs a batch file.
(the VBS file stops the batch file widow from showing)

The batch file writes the IP details to the file ip.txt
The Second action on the button after a .8 second delay is to read the contents of the file ip.txt into a variable.

The variable is then displayed in the text Object.
