Hi

I don't suppose there's any way to customize the System Menu title bar so that it omits the exit button and retains the minimize and maximize buttons. I use a separate exit button in a pub which has additional actions and prefer the viewer use it rather than the System Menu exit.

If I uncheck the System Menu in the Windows tab, I get rid of the exit button (what I want) but also eliminate the minimize and maximize ones (which I want to keep). I probably could design and add my own minimize and maximize icons and actions to a blank bar. However, much easier, if possible, to customize the existing Windows menu bar.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Kind Regards,
Stephen

Hi Stephen

One way would be to capture a system menu with a programme such as Snagit and then change it into a jpg.

Then you could edit the jpg menu and remove the exit link.

Then you would assign hotspots and minimise and maximise actions to the minimise and maximise menu items and add a sho action so the false menu showed when the user clicked the File pull down . You might have to place a false File jpg over the real File jpg and set it so that clicks do not pass through.

I have attached an old 2002 interactive that I did without charge for Southern Cross Galileo during a release to industry professional development programme.

You will see that the exit menu is activated on the very last page. - You'll have to work through the brief interactive to get there though :D These is some assumed prior knowledge built into the design but I think most people would be able to work their way through.

The interactive was built using a series of captured jpgs - it looks real but it is not.

Hope this gives you a few ideas

Cheers
Graham

Hi Stephen,

Adding to Graham's good idea, is another approach in Opus. :)

In your Publicatiion Properties set up a Goto Exit page. It can easily be a small page resembling an exiting logo. (i.e. Chapter in a Window with no titlebar) On this page have an OnShow trigger to activate the same actions as on your exit button.

Thanks Steve for you reply and suggestion.

The page in question needs to save vector positions/states on screen. I've built the capturing into any button that causes navigation away from the page to save this data. However, nothing stops the viewer from exiting via the Windows X on the System bar, which will cause loss of all data. My wish would be to eliminate that route, yet keep minimize/maximize, if possible.

Kind Regards,

Stephen
