Ok, I've been experimenting some more with this (just to prove I'm not stupid) and now agree with Alan's suggestion that "By default we may change the option for adding a play sound action to a timeline to 'wait for sound to complete' by default."

I hadn't appreciated that the "wait for sound to complete" checkbox would only affect the one track, which does make a lot of difference.

When doing voiceover driven pages (you know, audio clip with image and text, next audio clip, new image, next text) I've used Sync to end of each audio clip for some years... next time I'll use the timeline.

I do have more questions about working methods, but I'll start a new topic...

Linda

It affects only a single Play sound action - you can have a sound that waits immediately followed by a sound that does not (or vice versa). It allows you the freedom to chose how to layout your timeline.
The whole wait/don't wait system came about for use in the normal actions view (before timelines were added to Opus) and we cannot simply remove it without upsetting customers with older publications.
As stated perhaps this is not clear enough and making new Sound actions default to "wait" might be best (although then other people will not find the alternative "don't wait" version! ;-) )
