Hello.

Anytime I try to launch any Opus Pro XE 5.10 publication I’m getting the following error message
"this program appears to have crashed last time it was run.
Etc..." Then if I click OK it work correctly.

Where is the problem?

Thank you
Ilario Carrer

It is possible you have the early release of 5.10 which had a problem with clearing the test flag.
Download and apply the 5.5 service release (available from here); republish your publication and retry (the first time you will see the message again but after that it should not appear).

Hello Ilario,

You probably will have to uninstall Opus, and then re-install version 5.0 from your CD.

Then apply the 5.5 patch. ;-)

Hi Ilario,

Welcome to the forum, by the way.

I personally cannot comment on your download version of Opus. This may be something for you to take up with Digital Workshop, if they do not get the opportunity to respond on this forum. You can email them directly at -> support@digitalworkshop.com

Wishing you all the best over there in Italy! :)

I attended a software trade show this week. I had a table/booth with my laptop running one of my OPUS presentations. My laptop's battery is getting old, so I always use the power cord. Somehow the cord was disconnected, so my laptop stopped running.

When I discovered the problem and restarted my laptop, then tried running the same OPUS presentation, I got the same error message you captured and displayed. Since I know this, along with all my other OPUS presentations, is rock solid stable, I'm sure the message had to do with the unexpected hardware shut down.

I clicked the item to not re-display that message, and haven't had a problem seeing that message again. You also may be getting the error message merely because there was an unexpected/abnormal shut down of the software or your computer.

It won't hurt to do a re-load, but I'm tending to think that may not be necessary.

When a Publication starts it checks the registry to see if there is a flag for the publication to tell it the Presentation did not close correctly last time it was run. Opus presentations add the flag every time a publication is run.
When a publication ends it removes the flag. If a publication closes unexpectedly it does not get chance to remove the registry flag.

Early version of 5.10 had a bug were due to a requested feature being added it effected presentations ability to remove the flag. So that all publication that ran more than once would display this error incorrectly.

The fix is to update to the latest free service release which is currently version 5.5.

Hi.
I had the saem problem you say.
Could not upgrade with patch.
Contact send DW an email with your order code or date and your name.

I was running windows XP with all upgrades with everything.

Got upgrade disk and works well now. But still get some sticky moments.
Think it is prog conflict with background TSR.

Hope this helps.
