Using the file browse command, I see that I can reduce the files found to the specific extensions I choose.

Can I also say in which driectory to start looking?

Thanks, Linda

Actually, maybe I've missunderstood the command altogether.

What I'm after is a button with my presentation that will open a Word doc of the user's choice.

So I've put the file browse action on a button and set the extension to "doc".

After publishing, I click on the button, can see the list of docs and can click on one, but nothing happens.

Is this only to then save as a variable to pull up the file into a docview box?

If so, how would I get the docview box to display the file held in that variable?

Linda,

Pre set your variable for the broswer action to the folder you want.

Code:
C:\\Program Files\\

Note the double \\ these are needed.

Linda,

When you use the browse action when you select the file you want the variable you have selected then contains the details of the selected file.

You then need to add an additional action to launch the file. Instead of an absolute file for the launch you use your variable you set with the browse action surrounded with <>.
