Post subject: A useful free tool

Some time back I came across a useful on-screen ruler from http://www.spadixbd.com/freetools/index.htm

This version is free, although a more fully featured version is available for US$19 -- or was the last time I looked.

I find this particularly useful for quickly calculating the size of an object that I want to squeeze in between other objects. Yes, I know I can calculate these distances from info provided by Opus, but sometimes It's useful to have a graphical interface.

Have you tried OPUS' Grid and Ruler options?

To make an exact tight fit, I select Image Object and drag it to exactly fit the width I need. I look at the Status bar and see the width in pixels, then use PSP7 to size the image to that width. Normally, I let the height just maintain the correct aspect ratio.

What else would your recommended software do? I liked some of the other FREE software at your URL link! Printing the listing of what's in a directory looks like a great tool. Thanks for the suggestions.

Fred,

I'm aware of and use all the Opus tools you mention, but there are times when I find it easier just to grab a ruler and move to where I can make measurements.
