Hi
Waiting on my upgrade to opus 5.5xe havnt checked all the specs yet -SO- is it possible to link opus variables directly to word docs or web pages so that as I change the variable in opus it automatically changes the linked variable in word or web page?
Any takers- thanks
Paul

Yes, you can use a variable as the source for a DocView or Browser object. Remember to use the SYSTEM_PUBLICATION_DIR variable when building the paths so that the publication will work when distributed.

Thx Duncan
Sorry should have explained better. What I realy want to do is to change a few variables(say input text boxes) in opus that are linked(if possible) to variables in word docs or web pages so that if I change the text in opus the text in the variables in the word/web page changes to match the text changes in opus - hope this makes sense.

Sorry, but that sounds totally impossible. I can't think of any way you could make that happen using any package. The only solution that comes to mind would be some sort of intermediary web based database/server script combo that contained the information and both Opus and the web page used that as their source. I can't think how that would be possible in Word at all.

Will go via the database direction using mailmerge in word. Should have thought of that in the first place. Interesting to see if it works.
Thx again

Paul,

When you say web pages do you mean html pages or live web pages.
If you mean html pages then you may be able to to create html pages directly from Opus.

Take a look at the attached basic example.

All I have none is divided up a standard html pages into chunks which are saved as vaiables.

I have then allowed the user to input data to a set of varialbes.

Once all the data is entered an action sticks all the varaibles together and then writes the finished data to a html file.
