Hi

While the Plexus Plugin works well for IE (including the new IE 7.0 Beta which I’m using), it doesn’t seem to work for Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Netscape. I tried these to check compatibility for a new pub, and have installed a Plexus on my computer. Whether or not I have the Plugin already installed, when I try to open a web pub using any of the 3, it pops-up a screen (same screen in all 3-they must all use Mozilla) saying I need a Plugin. When you click to search/install the plugin, it fails to locate the Plexus on the Web (or installed already in my computer). When you click manually install, it fails as well. So, unless the viewer knows where to (separately find the Plexus Plugin (at the DW site) and separately install it beforehand, they would be unable to view the web pub, at least in my tests.

Perhaps, this is not happening elsewhere, which would be good news: meaning that others using these 3 web browsers will be able to get the plugin and view the pub.

Is anyone else having this experience? I have installed the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox, Opera and Netscape to conduct my tests. Perhaps, my anti-virus/firewall, pop-up blocking is affecting this only on my computer (though for IE, the Plugin works fine).

Kind Regards,

The plugin finder service for Mozilla style plugins is currently only open to huge companies (i.e. Macromedia) so unfortunately the auto discovery will not work for those browsers.

The best solution is to provide a download link fro the Plexus installer on your sites welcome page.

Hi Duncan

Thank you for your reply.

I've done this (provided the link). However, even with the Plexis Plugin installed on my computer, when I try to open a web pub in a Mozilla Firefox, Opera or Netscape browser, the need-for-plugin pop-up displays asking to install a plugin. In IE, this doesn't occur and the web pub plays fine, using the already installed Plexis Plugin. So, it appears the other 3 can't seem to recognize an already installed Plexis Plugin, at least on my computer.

If this occurs on others' computers, viewers, in spite of correctly installing the Plexis Plugin, will be unable to view web pubs.

Can this be duplicated by others? Perhaps, it's unique to my computer?

Kind Regards,

Stephen,

I just downloaded an installed the plug-in. I tried it on both IE and Firefox latest editions. It had no problems on either. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply.

It's helpful to know that the Plugin is working on browsers other than IE.

I'll check my Mozilla Firefox settings again to determine if there's something holding up recognition of the Plugin on my computer.

Never-the-less, this means that the web pub I was testing can be viewed by those with browsers other than IE. Good news! :)

Thanks again.

Kind Regards,
Stephen

Hi

Just re-installed the Plexis Plugin, and the web pub is now fully viewable in Mozilla Firefox.

Sometimes, I guess a simple re-install helps!

Kind Regards,
Stephen
