I have a large frame (larger than the viewing window). This frame is basically a map, containing one or two animations, and other objects.

I'd like the user to be able to drag the frame about (which I have achieved by making it draggable) but I don't want the edges of the map to be visible. In other words, can I restrict the amount of dragging the user can do, so that the frame never gets dragged out of the window?

Perhaps there is some means of setting boundaries beyond which dragging is impossible.

Can anyone advise, please?

The only thing I can think of is to create a frame as big as your page, attach scrollbars to it and then put your big map frame in the first frame. You won't be able to drag around, but your user would be able to use the scrollbars to move around the map.

Thanks, bwpatric. The existing frame is considerably bigger than the page already, hence the need to drag it around - I could try the scrollbar solution, but yet another frame may complicate things a little!

I have animations running at the same time, and the user may want to follow their tracks by dragging the page about.

I tried having the background map (with all the animations and objects) as a slow-moving animation in itself, but the whole thing was far to jerky.

I must say I'm surprised that there is no obvious way of limiting drag to a preset area.

Thanks again

Chris

Hi Chris,

Have you considered trying the "Auto-Scroll View" in Opus? Look at Publication Properties >> Window Tab >> Display Full Screen.

When the user moves the mouse to the edge of the screen, the page will automatically scroll for them. It's a neat feature and may well be a solution for you.

That's a good one for the Wishlist ;)

That's an idea, Steve - I'll investigate that one further.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Chris
