Hi All,

I'm trying to create a disc menu and want to play a video file .mpg when the publication launches, and then move to the first page. I want this to be automatic so I can't figure out how to set a trigger.
I've tried various methods and some work in the editor (Opus Pro 4) but not once the file is published.
I set On Show and point it to the video file, or set a custom trigger followed by the play video command... but no luck :(

I imagine there is an easy method of doing this but I've been wrestling with it for two days, so anyone's suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Joel

Joel,

If I understand you correctly.

Click on the video object, select the Properties tab, under the Options list select "Start Automatically." That way as soon as the video object appears it starts to play.

When published:
Make sure that the video file is available, in the correct place (path) when you publish or run the published program or is included inside the published program.

Thanks Leo,

I have tried this approach but because this is to be a CD menu I need to get it to work from the publication directory. Which means I can't set a path to the video and this is the problem. When using a button or other form of trigger you can nominate the publication directory as the location for any object or file, but doing it the way I want this does not seem to be possible.
Because CD drives can be D: E: or practically any other letter it's not possible to set a path in the properties filename box, because I won't know the potential drive letter.

Does that make sense?

Cheers

Joel

use <SYSTEM_PUBLICATION_DIR>\filename.mpg. Then make sure your MPEG file is in the publish directory of your created program.

Thanks for that Bwpatric,

But that doesn't appear to work in Opus Pro 4, that would be exactly how I've done this sort of thing when using a button, but if you simply add this <SYSTEM_PUBLICATION_DIR>\file.mpg to the filename box it doesn't seem to work.

Cheers

Thanks for the input Brenden, that worked fine.
It's the first time I've asked the forum for help and I must say the response was brilliant.
I've been using Opus for a couple of years now and this is one of those awkward things that come up that gets you tearing your hair out.

Anyway problem solved, I'll keep a look at the forum in case I can help anyone else.

Thanks again to everyone who tried to help.

Regards

Joel.

Joel --

Glad you got the answer to the first part of your question! Did you figure out how to get the Pub to advance when the Video Object is finished?

On the Video Object, go to Actions and click on "Synchronisation" (it's below "Mouse," then select "Synchronise to end." You need to highlight your Video Object in the right window, then click "Apply" You then need to select the Actions Tab (between Triggers and Programming). Under General, double click "Go to Page." It defaults to "Forward." Click "OK" and you are "good to go."

Demofred,

Thanks for the tips, I did manage to get it to advance by using the "synchronise to end" trigger and then using the action "go to page" (number). That seemed to work so I didn't look any further.

Thanks for taking the trouble to answer my question though.

Kind Regards

Joel
