I've checked "Run publication from CD-ROM only". I also checked "Check for CD-ROM name" and entered the name: BTCD. I used the Opus CD wizard and gave the CD the same name I entered under Security in pub properties. After burning to CD, the program runs fine and will not run if copied to the local computer; no problem.

Problem: When I use Nero or Roxio to create a new CD (with a new CD volume name) from the files on the original CD described above, the CD with the new name surprisingly launches and runs just fine. According to the way I understood the "Check for CD-ROM name" security function in Opus Pro 04 XE was supposed to work, this "NEW" CD should refuse to launch because the volume is not named "BTCD".

Just to be clear, I'm not using the "copy disc' function in Nero or Roxio which will also copy the CD name, but used the original CD as a directory source to copy the autorun.inf and publication .exe files to a new CD with the volume name: NEW.

Please test "Check for CD-ROM name" and see if it works for you. If so, maybe DW can help me trace down what I'm doing wrong. I plan to use these two security functions in Opus Pro XE along with a 3rd party Copy Protection scheme to help prevent casual theft of a publication for retail.

I cannot reproduce this problem. You don't happen to have several CD drives and still have the original in at the same time as the copy?

Thanks for checking Duncan. At least I know it's working for someone else. I'll do a more thorough test ASAP.

Yes, it appears that's exactly what's been happening.... Doh! Thanks for the suggestion.
